It's Friday! Regardless of the plans you have tonight, you probably want to recover from the week by listening to some soothing music, or tracks that you can just jam to on the dancefloor. Either way, Fridays are for getting lost in the music! We've compiled a little list of some of our favourite current tracks to get lost in:

Avicii - Wake me up

This the number 1 single in the UK at the moment and we are not surprised at all! Featuring multi-talented singer Aloe Blacc, the song has been referred to as Mumford & Sons on speed. All we can say is that we love this tune and it is definitely the jam to get lost in!

Icona Pop - I love it

This duo is one to watch, with I Love It being stuck in our heads the whole week! If you haven't heard this track yet, it's a pure pop song destined for weekend club perfection. We don't care, we love it!

John Newman - Love me again

This tune can be heard everywhere! We think John deserves all the love he's getting with this track, as it's his big break after featuring on and co-writing Rudimental's Feel the Love. We must say, we like this guy's style.

Kings of Leon - Supersoaker

What? Supersoaker? As in the '90s water pistol? It's the title of Kings of Leon's first single in two years.  It's what you would expect from Kings of Leon, as they stayed true to their style. We like it!

Florence & The Machine - Over the love

Ok, so this one you may have heard as the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby movie, but you have to admit that the vocals on this girl send you flying high! Awesome track.

The 'Legends of the Summer', Jay-Z & JT bring Wireless to a blistering close

Ever since that fateful day in January of this year, when a certain Mr Justin Timberlake announced his long-awaited return to music - and the subsequent single/album/US tour news that has been released - one feels that this was the moment we had all been waiting for.

Never mind the single (dropping a major hint at what was to come by featuring some rap artist called Jay-Z). Never mind the album. Never mind the US tour. Since Justin's post-BRITs show at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town (reclaiming the title of 'Best Live Act of All Time' in the process), we've all been waiting with baited breath for Wireless Festival. Timberlake's announcement that he would be headlining the show, alongside Jay-Z...and that the two of them would be onstage together for the final night was just too exciting for some to bear.

And by God, did they give the crowd a show.

Over a two-and-a-quarter hour set, the Legends of the Summer tour was officially kicked off with the duo playing just over forty songs to a capacity crowd; not bad, considering both of the boys had played the previous two nights for about that long on their own. Bookending a divided middle act where one artist played a selection of their own material with two collaborative sections - and even a special guest appearance from one Bajan singer called Rihanna - ensured that the festival was brought to a fitting close.

Before performing at all at Wireless, Justin released a new single, 'Take Back The Night', a new track from his second album of the year, the questionably titled The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2. He played this track twice over the weekend - both on his own headlining day and on Sunday. As for Jay-Z, his most recent solo release Magna Carta... Holy Grail shot straight to number one, Jay-Z's first in the UK.

The Women's Institute hits the high street!

At the annual conference of the Women’s Institute (WI) last month, an overwhelming 87% of members voted in favour of this year’s resolution: to work to spice up the high street. The argument is that the high street is often a community hub and provides much more than merely a place to shop. We can’t help but to agree!

One of the first steps of the campaign has been to fill up a shop window on Parliament Street in Isle of Man with a Women’s Institute display showing the location of every WI in the island’s 700-member federation and events scheduled over the summer and autumn. The idea behind this is to create outstanding window displays in shops as one way of spicing up the high street. 

We think another key facet that makes the high street is music. Music creates the atmosphere – and as we bloggedearlier – we think it makes sense for shops that have music so prevalent in advertising should also have it in store to create a welcoming atmosphere. Music is what brings a store to life! Nevertheless, we’re interested to see how this initiative to spice up the high streets pans out. 

World Music Festival

And the annual music festival in the world 12th running this 30 a September 10, 2012, is a city wide, multi-location, for a weeklong festival, which attracted more than half a million concertgoers and presented over 500 artists and groups from over 75 countries since it began in 1999. Organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs Chicago (DCA), and the festival of traditional and contemporary music from different cultures around the world.

Summer Music Festivals

Once in the summer and the arrival of 18 become synonymous with music festivals. Out with a great day, good vibrations and the future of the music festival (which is what I'm going to) just around the corner, Fashion Festival is misplaced. Now the main thing when it comes to dressing for the music festival is the convenience, and make sure they are very comfortable to wear in 12-hour dance and the sun and walking.
